Redesigning the mandoline slicer to broaden physical accessibility for users with varying anthropometric features and joint pain
Introduction
This project stemmed from our peers' frequent injury and wrist pain when using the mandoline slicer to prepare food. After conducting market research and initial product testing of the current mandoline slicer, we identified the following usability issues:

The slicer handle does not fit all hand sizes

The slicer handle causes joint pain and wrist torque after long periods of usage
In the project, we focus on addressing these issues to design a more ergonomic tool

Project Deliverables

Our redesign solution offers two thumb rest slots, offering flexibility for different hand sizes and allowing users to apply a "power grip

Opting for a medium height handle length (4-5”) offers balance between providing safety from blade and precise slicing while preventing over-torquing of the wrist
