My Story
Why Design and Engineering?
I grew up doing art - mostly paintings and illustrations; I also had a big passion for technology. Design work has allowed me to merge the two systems together. Work never gets boring, I get to work across multi-disciplinary teams and problem-solve from different perspectives.

My approach to Design:
My biggest revelation is that the "real design" that happens is never the same as design in academia. To be successful, I learned to step outside the mindset that development is driven by users' needs. Moreover, "real design" is not only meeting the needs of users, but also business interests and technical constraints. Successful design is optimizing a solution that maximizes the needs of my various stakeholders.

I believe a successful design is 80% need finding and 20% solution development. Understanding a design space is key to delivering effective, and relevant solutions.
